Mechanics for Africa alums are great ambassadors for the College. They come from communities that face many challenges, but in most cases, our students find a way out of those circumstances and set a good example. Our new and ongoing approach for student recruitment is to actually go into specific communities and actually connect with the prospective students. Telling them about who we are and what our mission is, we share our core values right in the beginning. Our hope is that through this process, we may develop partnerships with community churches and enable the church to be a conduit of change in communities in such a way that it is evident to see young peoples’ lives change through this recruitment process.

Enock Phiri, A former student and currently a junior mechanic at MfA. The church we met the youth from is called Pentecostal Holiness Church. It is the church where Enocks’ family have fellowship. Enock grew up in Masala, Ndola and as a student, he would walk everyday to class and he was always early despite the distance. The community he comes from is ravaged by alcohol, poverty and all sorts of vices. He is one of the fortunate enough ones who have had the chance to work hard and have the chance to succeed through MfA. He graduated and was recognized as a hard working individual. He is now a junior mechanic at the College workshop.
