Every Friday morning, Mechanics for Africa slows its pace for something special — mentorship. Staff members step out of their usual roles to guide small groups of students through conversations on purpose, responsibility, and personal growth.

For many, the road to MfA has not been an easy one. Finances, family pressures, or the challenge of adjusting to college life can make staying the course difficult. But mentorship has become one of the strongest supports we’ve introduced — since launching it, student retention has risen, as students gain the confidence and encouragement to complete their training.
It’s one of the quiet strengths of MfA: a team that invests not just in education, but in character. And yes, we count it among the best returns on investment we’ve ever seen.
