Fuel Meets Skill: MFA and Vivo Energy

Mechanics for Africa (MFA) has been honoured to host Vivo Energy Zambia—the pan-African retailer and distributor of Shell and Engen fuels and lubricants—on several occasions. Their visits have highlighted not only the importance of mechanics in the energy sector, but also the strong alignment of our values.

On an earlier visit, Vivo Energy recognised the achievements of some of our top-performing graduates by presenting them with specialised professional tools—equipment that most young mechanics would normally only access years into their careers. These tools provided a head start, giving our graduates the confidence to begin their working life at a higher standard.

Later, they went a step further by offering MFA graduates short-term assignments across Zambia. These placements created opportunities for our students to demonstrate both their technical ability and their professional values in real industry environments, from routine checks to advising customers on safe and effective vehicle care. Here you see Pascalina working her way through an oil check.

Most recently, just a few weeks ago, Vivo Energy returned to MFA. Once again, they affirmed what has become clear through every engagement: our values align. At MFA, we train mechanics with skill and integrity; at Vivo Energy, principles like safety, excellence, and respect guide their work.

This is what it looks like when industry leaders notice, value, and invest in the next generation of mechanics.
